Shawn Fry is the Assistant Director of the Boone County Public Library.  

 

BCPL is located in northern Kentucky, with a population around 130,000. BCPL employees over 150 people and manages approximately a $7.8 million budget annually. BCPL is home to six libraries and two-state wide consortiums.

 

Shawn’s career focus is in continuing education, data analytics, community engagement and management. Preceding public library positions are branch manager and circulation supervisor.  Before becoming a librarian Shawn was an officer in the United States Air Force. His other presentations are Quality Service: From Disney to the Library and The Good, the Bad and the Meh of Traveling Exhibits. Since 2017 he has been the board president of SWON, a 47 member education consortium of special, academic and public libraries. 

 

He earned a Bachelor of Science from University of South Carolina Upstate and master’s degree in library science from Kent State and organizational leadership from Saginaw Valley State University. Shawn received his commission through Air Force Officer Training School. 

 

Away from work he is a drummer, enjoys hiking and occasional attempts at working out.  At home, he is usually surrounded by books he meant to finish reading.
