Rebecca Blakiston

User Experience Librarian
University of Arizona Libraries

Rebecca Blakiston has been a librarian at the University of Arizona Libraries since 2008, and a user experience librarian since 2014. She provides oversight, management, and strategic planning for the library website, specializing in user research, user-centered design, writing for the web, and content strategy. She chairs a website steering group and meets regularly with staff from across the library to facilitate communication, training, and collaboration. She leads user research efforts for library web projects, including surveys, focus groups, and user interviews.

In 2013, she organized the 6-course certificate program in user experience for Library Juice Academy, and teaches the online courses, “Do-It-Yourself Usability Testing.” “Writing for the Web,” and “Developing a Website Content Strategy.” In 2014, she published Usability Testing: a Practical Guide for Librarians (Rowman & Littlefield). She has presented extensively on user research methods, website content strategy, and improving the user experience. She is currently writing her second book on the topic of clarity in written communication, an essential part of the user experience.
