Doris Small Helfer
Doris Small Helfer is Chair, Collection Access and Management Services at California State University Northridge. She had a column in "Searcher Magazine: the Magazine of the Database Professional". Her most recent publication was as co-author of the article on "Technical Services" in the "Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science" 4th edition currently scheduled to be published in March 2017. Her B.A. is from CSU Northridge and her M.S.L. is from Western Michigan University.
She served as President of the SLA Southern Calif. Chapter, SLA Chair of the IT Division, Communications Division, and Knowledge Management Divisions, and on the SLA Board of Directors as Division Cabinet Chair. In addition she has served as Chair of the Networking, Public Relations, Scholarship, and Information Outlook Advisory Council and numerous other volunteer positions. She won the Distinguished Teacher/Librarian of the Year award at her University, the Rose Vermelker Award for mentoring and ha been honored by being named to the SLA Hall of Fame. She is currently a Candidate for President-Elect in the 2016 SLA elections.
