Director of Library and Information Services
City of Pacific Grove

After 37 years of working in public libraries, from children's services to rural reference to technology management, Steven Silveria came out of retirement to become Director of Library and Information Services for the city of Pacific Grove, his hometown. This unique position combines responsibility for providing public library services at the City's 106 year old Carnegie library, for developing a citywide information management strategy and the capabilities of other City departments to use and manage information. Steven brings a background in technology, facilities and workflow planning, needs assessment and user training to his work, as well as a strong belief in library professionals taking on broader responsibilities for their local government to improve the future of their communities.
