Steven Alcalde is the Head of Computers and Technology Services at Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton, New York, where he oversees the library’s technology infrastructure, public computing services, and TechLab makerspace. His work focuses on expanding access to emerging technologies, strengthening digital literacy, and building equitable, sustainable technology services for public library communities. Steven has served in multiple leadership roles within the Suffolk County Library Association, including President of the Association and President of its Computer and Technical Services Division, and continues to contribute to county wide collaboration as a co-founder and co-chair of the East End Tech Coalition.

A frequent presenter at regional and national conferences including ALA, PLA, NYLA, and local library systems, Steven develops practical, hands on programs centered on emerging technology education, makerspaces, digital equity, AI literacy, budget conscious technology initiatives, and intellectual freedom. He is actively engaged in advocacy work related to censorship preparedness and equitable library funding, and has contributed to toolkits and training sessions that help libraries support staff, respond effectively to challenges, and defend access to information. His work emphasizes real world application, staff readiness, and positioning libraries as resilient, trusted institutions grounded in core library values.
