Internet Librarian 2021 Will Be Held Virtually

Just a few months ago, we seemed to be on a path to return to Monterey, California for our first in-person Internet Librarian conference in two years. Our planners, speakers, and community were all very excited to see everyone face-to-face again. Unfortunately, it now seems there continues to be too many obstacles in our way for us to overcome. We have recently made the decision that we will not be able to host Internet Librarian 2021 as an in-person event.

We deeply appreciate your support of Internet Librarian and your understanding that we have made every effort to host Internet Librarian 2021.

We are, however, excited to move forward with planning for Internet Librarian Connect 2021. Given the successes and experiences of our previous virtual events, we are now prepared to make Internet Librarian Connect 2021 our best virtual conference ever. The virtual conference will be held, as scheduled, the week of October 26-28, 2021.

Internet Librarian Connect 2021 will include practical advice, inspiring thought leadership, and in-depth training. Join your peers to learn, share, and celebrate the disruptive trends shaping the future of libraries and information professionals. See where the information industry is going, and how to get there first.

Global crises create a sense of urgency for change and innovation and libraries definitely stepped up to the call for action in their various communities during the recent pandemic! Libraries are resilient and are now resetting for the future. The 25th Internet Librarian program, Call To Action: Innovation In Library Technology & Communities, highlights some of the exciting changes that will likely become standard, those that were great experiments from which we learned much, as well as creative new insights and plans for the future. Plans which include working with their communities in rebuilding and recovering from the economic and social issues arising from recent upheavals.

Internet Librarian caters to librarians and information professionals of all types and from all settings. No matter what your role is at your organization, you’ll find all of your bases covered at Internet Librarian Connect 2021.

Do I need to cancel my hotel reservation?

Attendees who booked at the Monterey Marriott through the official room block do not have to cancel their reservation. Reservations made within the official room block will be canceled automatically. If you booked outside of the official room block you are responsible for canceling your own reservation. 

Do I need to cancel other travel arrangements?

Yes. We encourage you to cancel any travel plans you may have made on your own for Internet Librarian.

I am a registered attendee, do I need to cancel my registration?

No, you do not need to cancel your registration. We have reached out to all registered attendees with additional information.

I am a speaker, do I need to cancel my participation?
