Doris Small Helfer is Librarian Emerita at California State University Northridge.   She served as President of the  SLA Southern Calif. Chapter, SLA Chair of three Divisions, Information Technology Division, Communications Division, and Knowledge Management Division, as well as serving on the SLA Board of Directors.  She was Chair of the SLA Networking, Public Relations, and Scholarship Committees, Information Outlook Advisory Council and numerous other volunteer positions.  She was the recipent of the Distinguished Teacher/Librarian of the Year award at California State University Northridge, the SLA Rose Vermelker Award for mentoring and honored by being named to the SLA Fellows, SLA Hall of Fame.  She received the SLA John Cotton Dana Award in 2017, which isthe Association's highest honor.
