Ruth Baker

Ruth Baker is the Learning Commons Librarian and Asst. Dept. Head for Information Services at Georgia Southern University's Zach S. Henderson Library in Statesboro, GA. She serves as the liaison for the Sociology/ Anthropology Dept., as well as several departments in the College of Engineering, and is Library Liaison to the Centers for Teaching and Technology ( https://works.bepress.com/ruth_baker/ ).

Ruth holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Arizona and an MA, A.b.D in Archaeology from Southern Methodist University. She has worked in corporate settings as well as academic libraries and has been a Library Faculty member for 15 years (since about the year 2000). She has been a member of ALA/ACRL and ANSS for a number of years. She is a lifelong technophile and is known to her colleagues as ‘Gadget Girl'.

More recently, Ruth had the experience of team teaching a First­Year experience (FYE) course and has been embedded in both FYE and Anthropology & Sociology classes. In both face­to­face and fully online sections, she has worked with instructors to design engaging active learning experiences and provides ongoing support for students in her liaison areas to help them achieve their information and digital literacy learning outcomes.
